Starting the Schema Tool

The DataDirect Schema Tool allows you to create a schema map or modify an existing one. When you create a schema map using the Schema Tool, it is written to a configuration file in a directory that you specify. Because schema maps are stored separately from the tool, they can be shared across networks and modified as needed.
During product installation, the Schema Tool is installed in the following default location.
*Windows systems: Program Files\Progress\DataDirect\JDBC_60\Tools\schematool.jar
*UNIX and Linux systems: /opt/Progress/DataDirect/JDBC_60/Tools/schematool.jar
The Schema Tool can be used with user/ID password authentication, Kerberos authentication, or no authentication. For instructions on starting the Schema Tool, see "Launching the Schema Tool with User/ID Password Authentication or No Authentication" or "Launching the Schema Tool in a Kerberos Environment."
Note: The Schema Tool is only offered as a GUI application. If your system does not support GUI applications, you will receive an error when opening the Schema Tool.
