To copy from a database, you can add components to a diagram from the DB Structure
view:

In the Connections view, connect to the database from which
you want to copy data structures.

In the DB Structure view, browse to the desired table;
expand the table node and the Columns node below it to display fields.

Select the element, hold down the left mouse button, and drag to the area of
the canvas where you want to place the item. Then release the mouse
button.
