As part of the installation media, OpenEdge supplies empty databases that support the language and collation standards of over thirty languages. The databases are located in the OpenEdge-install-dir\prolang subdirectories. See this table for the subdirectory name for your language. For example, the empty database that you might use to build a Russian application is OpenEdge-install-dir\prolang\rus\empty.db.
These empty databases provide a database labelled with the appropriate code page and collation table for a language. However, if you are developing applications for a language or region that is not represented in OpenEdge-install-dir\prolang, the OpenEdge utility PROUTIL can be used to set up a unique database.
