This section consists of use cases that illustrate how to use Change Data Capture. The descriptions of the use cases are based on the assumption that the change data is used to send changes to a target Data Warehouse and the target could be any data receiver – such as a database table in another operational database or a plant management system that is driven by change data. The use cases are based on the following assumptions:
The application querying the database knows only the name of the CDC source table and accesses CDC data using just the table name
In most cases, the CDC source table name determines the Change table name to make building CDC queries easy
For cases where the Change table name is defined with a custom, non-default table name, a CDC query can be built with some additional steps
