Auditing states

There are three possible auditing states for your database:
*Enabled — In an enabled state, access to the database is restricted and tracked by auditing:
*Clients and servers from Release 10.0B and prior cannot start or connect to the database.
*Audit privileges of clients from Releases 10.1A and forward are validated before granting access to the audit data, protecting your data from unauthorized access.
*Database and application activity is audited according to active auditing policies.
*Disabled — In a disabled state, access to the database is not restricted by auditing:
*Clients and servers from Release 10.0B and prior can start and connect to the database.
*Access to the audit data by clients from Release 10.1A and forward is disallowed.
*Audit privileges of clients from Release 10.1A and forward are not validated.
*Database activity is not audited.
*Deactivated — In a deactivated state, access to the database is restricted by auditing:
*Clients and servers from Release 10.0B and prior cannot start or connect to the database.
*Access to the audit data by clients from Release 10.1A and forward is disallowed.
*Audit privileges of clients from Release 10.1A and forward are not validated.
*Database activity is not audited.
