Defining filters and parameters
The Management module allows you to define filters for application attributes and task instances, and use parameters for these filters. The Report Builder generates dynamic reports based on the values specified at the time the report is executed. You can define filters and parameters for a query in the Filters section of the Add Report page.
To define filters for attributes:
1. In the New Filter sub-section, select Attribute.
2. Choose an attribute from the drop-down list and click Define Filter.
The Filter dialog box appears.
3. Either type the reference value, or select Null or Not Null.
For Start Date and End Date attributes, select a date or a range of dates.
4. Click Apply.
All defined filters appear in a list and can be edited or deleted.
Whether creating a query or modifying a report, you can define parameters for filters of attributes that help generate reports based on a specific set of selected data.
5. To define parameters for filters of an attribute:
a. Click Use Parameter. The Parameters dialog box appears.
b. In the Define Parameters section, type the name of the parameter and the corresponding user prompt.
c. Enter a default value for the parameter.
d. Click Add.
The registered parameters appear in a list and can be used for current report or any future report. You can select a parameter to edit, delete, or use it for current report.
Business Process Server provides extended task filtering capabilities for more effective report building. You can specify which tasks are to be displayed, choose the tasks of a particular instance and define filters to specify conditions for a selected task.
To define filters for tasks:
6. In the New Filter sub-section, select Task.
7. Choose a task from the drop-down list and then click Define Filter.
The Filter dialog box appears.
8. In the Task tab, type the name of the user assigned to the task and choose a status from the drop-down list.
9. Select the Start Time and End Time tabs to choose a date or a range of dates.
10. Click Apply.
All defined filters appear in a list and can be edited or deleted.
Note: You cannot define parameters for task filters.
