If you do not have Sitefinity CMS installed yet, download it as described in Downloading Sitefinity CMS.
To create and run a project, follow these steps:

2. Click Create new project.
The Create New Project Wizard opens.
3. Enter the following:
Location — The file system location to store the project.
Name — The project name. This name will be displayed in the Sitefinity CMS Project Manager and for the name of the folder that will contain the project.
Browse URL — Will be dynamically resolved. When you run the project from the Project Manager, it will use an internal web server and the URL will be dynamically resolved.
4. Click Next.
5. Specify an activated license or a new license. (There will be additional steps to activate a new license)
6. Click Finish.
The new project displays in the Sitefinity CMS Project Manager
7. Double-click the project to start it with the built-in web server.
The Project Startup screen opens.
8. In the Set Database panel, choose the database you want to use.
SQL Server Express works well for evaluation because, if you have SQL Server Express on your machine, Sitefinity will create and configure a database instance automatically. To use any of the other databases, you will next supply the information required to connect and Sitefinity will attempt to connect and to create a database instance. Make sure that the account you enter has the appropriate privileges.
9. Click Continue.
10. Register the first administrative user, who has all privileges and can later add other users to the system. All fields are required.
11. Click I'm Done.
The Sitefinity CMS backend for the project opens in your browser.
