To load the installation media, you must have Administrator privileges on the machine where you are installing OpenEdge Developers Kit. For more information, see your Windows documentation.
To initiate the Installation Utility and to install OEDK:
1. Obtain a copy of the completed Preinstallation Checklist for Windows. You should also have the other installation-related documents highlighted in table available for reference.
2. Close all other applications before beginning the installation process.
Other applications or tasks might interfere with the installation or use files that OpenEdge Developers Kit needs to complete the installation. Shut down any processes where the executable itself, or a file used by the executable, is located in the directory where you intend to install OpenEdge.
3. Copy the installation package on your machine, in this case a packaged .zip file (PROGRESS_OE_11.6_WIN_64_PDSOE.zip) as described in the following table:

Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) download
Navigate to the software image you intend to download from the Progress Software Download Center.
Click on the file name to download to your machine using the browser. This file is 2.5GB in size so this may take several minutes.

4. Extract all the contents to a single folder of your choice on your machine.
5. Ensure that you have installed .NET Framework software on your machine before you initiate OEDK installation. Otherwise, the installation process will terminate. Follow the steps below if you want to install .NET Framework on your machine:
a. In the extracted folder, search for the folder \3party\dotnetfx\eng.
b. Use the application dotnetfx to install .NET Framework.
6. Right click on setup.exe and select the "Run as Administrator" option found within the folder to launch the installation.
Note that you accepted the License Agreement before downloading the software. If you wish to view the terms of the License Agreement again you may do so here.
This results in the OpenEdge Silent installation utility running without your intervention. The installation takes a few minutes and an Installshield icon is present on the task bar while the installation is running.
On successful completion of the installation, check the following files:
response.ini file, created in the extracted folder, and used to capture the installation values
oedk_response.ini file, created in the extracted folder.
