Authentication

Hybrid Data Pipeline supports internal and external authentication. When the default internal authentication system is used, end user credentials are checked against a hash of the password stored in the Hybrid Data Pipeline account database. External authentication may be supported either through a Java plugin or through an LDAP server. With Java plugin external authentication, end user credentials are authenticated with Java code. With LDAP external authentication, end user credentials are authenticated against an LDAP service. Whether internal or external authentication is used, multiple end users can be associated with a Hybrid Data Pipeline user account via an authentication information object. Any end user associated with a user account inherits the permissions and administrative access given to the account.
The following topics describe how external authentication may be integrated into a HDP environment.
* Integrating external authentication with a Java plugin
* Integrating an LDAP authentication service
* Advanced functionality for authentication services
