     Release 4.0 Features

Progress DataDirect Hybrid Data Pipeline is a data access platform that provides
simple, secure access to cloud and on-premises data sources, such as RDBMS, Big
Data, and NoSQL. The JDBC driver is one of four primary components of the Hybrid
Data Pipeline. The JDBC driver enables JDBC applications to communicate to a
data source through the Hybrid Data Pipeline server. The JDBC driver is
installed separately.

     Requirements

Disk Space
----------
A complete installation of the Hybrid Data Pipeline Driver for JDBC requires
21 MB of hard disk space.

Java
----
Java SE 6 or higher is required to use the Hybrid Data Pipeline Driver for
JDBC. Standard installations of Java SE on some platforms do not include
the jar file containing the extended encoding set that is required to
support some of the less common database code pages. To verify whether
your Java SE version provides extended code page support, make sure that
the charsets.jar file is installed in the \lib subdirectory of your
Java SE installation directory. If you do not have the charsets.jar file,
install the international version of Java SE.

     Installation Directory

The default installation directory for the driver is:

* Windows:
  C:\Program Files\Progress\DataDirect\Hybrid_Data_Pipeline_for_JDBC

* UNIX/Linux:
  /opt/Progress/DataDirect/Hybrid_Data_Pipeline_for_JDBC
NOTE: If you do not have access to "/opt", your user's directory will take the
  place of this directory.

     Notes, Known Problems, and Restrictions

The following are notes, known problems, or restrictions with
the Hybrid Data Pipeline for JDBC driver.

Silent Installation
-------------------
* The JDBC 32-bit silent installation fails on Windows 10. Use the
  standard installation instead.

OpenEdge
--------
* The values returned for isWritable and isReadOnly result set
metadata attributes are not correct when connected to an
  OpenEdge data source.

* Fetching / Describing stored procedure parameter metadata from a
callable statement is not working. You can obtain stored procedure
  parameter metadata using DatabaseMetaData.getProcedureColumns.

* Max Precision of LONGVARCHAR data type reported by the driver
is incorrect. The correct max precision is 1073741824.

Salesforce.com, Force.com, and Database.com
-------------------------------------------
* A command-line installation is supported on UNIX/Linux only. It will be
supported on Windows in a future update.

* Using the SELECT...INTO Statement. The SELECT...INTO statement is not
  supported for remote tables.
