Using DataDirect Cloud On-Premise Connector

When you install the DataDirect Cloud On-Premise Connector on a machine behind your firewall, you can connect to an on-premise data store using DataDirect Cloud without opening ports or otherwise configuring the fire wall. The On-Premise Connector establishes a secure connection when needed to provide access to the on-premise data sources through DataDirect Cloud. Watch a video for an overview of how the On-Premise Connector works.
You must install the On-Premise Connector on a machine on your network before configuring an on-premise data source in DataDirect Cloud. Download the On-Premise Connector by logging into your DataDirect Cloud account and selecting Downloads. Click the link for the Installing the DataDirect Cloud On-Premise Connector on Windows, or watch a video. for more information about installing the On-Premise Connector.
The On-Premise Connector allows you to access an on-premise data store just like any cloud data store. The two important differences are:
*DataDirect Cloud On-Premise Connector must be installed on a machine that has network access to the on-premise data store.
*The data source that you configure in DataDirect Cloud needs both the Connector information from the On-Premise Connector and the connection details for the on-premise data store.

Configuring the On-Premise Data Source

After the On-Premise Connector is installed on your network, you are ready to create an on-premise data source in DataDirect Cloud.
1. Log in to DataDirect Cloud.
2. Go to the Data Sources view and click +New Data Source.
3. Then, select a data store.
The Data Source dialog box displays. If necessary, select the On-Premise radio button.
4. Fill in the fields required for the type of on-premise data store you want to connect to:
*Apache Hadoop Hive connection parameters (on-premise)
*DB2 connection parameters (on-premise)
*Greenplum connection parameters (on-premise)
*Informix connection parameters (on-premise)
*Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Azure
*Microsoft Dynamics CRM connection parameters (on-premise)
*MySQL connection parameters (on-premise)
*Oracle connection parameters (on-premise)
*PostgreSQL connection parameters (on-premise)
*Progress OpenEdge connection parameters (on-premise)
*Progress Rollbase connection parameters (on-premise)
*SugarCRM connection parameters (on-premise)
*Sybase connection parameters (on-premise)
5. In the Connector ID field, click the arrow Down arrow for a field) and select the Connector that you want to use.
If your environment is set up for load balancing, you might select the primary Connector for example, Production, an identifier is appended to each Connector, for example, Production_dup0 and Production_dup1. If the Connectors in the drop-down list were shared with you, the owner's name is appended, for example, Test(owner1) and Test(owner2).
6. Click Save or Test Connect to create the on-premise data source.
